I missed the session but I did manage to see Barbara's x on my screen at my sessions- Unfortunately I also lost my wallet in that session-so today I have been cancelled credit cards.
Everywhere I went when I took it out to use everyone wanted t oknow what it was and how to order one-Gee if it were for sale on the retail level, they could have cleaned up at MACUL.
I love my little xo and the two kids at my school who share it-love it too. I have a second one I am still waiting for. They made a cool little laptop-hopefully they will get their ordering system kinks worked out. Some people who ordered in November are still waiting . I ordered mine in Decemeber so I really didn't expect it until February so the Extra march wait is inconvenient but not upsetting.
Right now I am trying to figure out a way to hook it up to a projector or Smart board. I read on the wiki that someone has figured out how to get flash to work on it.
Kelly, I also could read what you were typing but it only showed on the network screen. The rest of us couldn't create chats that others could chat in - we wanted to talk to you to see if you had created your chat differently than we had created them - or invited others differently. Sorry about the loss of the wallet - not fun :(.
I'll be talking with our network folks to verify, but based on our experience I'm pretty sure there was something in place that prevented true communication at MACUL. The reason I think so is that we also had a software in the model classroom that relied on computer to computer communication (on regular Windows pc's) that we couldn't make connect either (same pc's worked on our school network the day before). But I am very curious about Kelley's XO working better than ours...Kelley didn't you say that you got your machine from a person in the project and that you are still waiting for your G1G1 XO? If that is the case maybe the config is different? BTW, check out the new XO user group section (just getting started). If you have any tips, please chime in!
My G1G1 I am still waiting for.
Good news though- I brought my XO back to the virtual classroom at the end of the day and I got my XO to mess with the one across the table. I had not been able to do that earlier. I also noticed that the other wirless network with the lock on , was no longer on line.
I am wondering if their configuration created a virtual firewall. I even had a fellow teacher walk across and down the center and the mess worked great. After I got it to come up so I typed along the bottom and not in chat box- I could see you all- Part of it might have been operator error on my part.
However I can report that the mess worked really well. We got it to work both in chat and in the Write feature. This is the most I have ever used it as I preety much turned it over to a couple of my students who really needed it.
I can't wait until my second one comes so I can have the two boys mess across the room..
