Is it possible to set topics to open automatically once a student has completed a certain task or set of tasks?
I'm setting up a project on Moodle, and I'd like each student to be able to work at their own pace without having the temptation to skip ahead. Each stage of the project is its own Topic, and each stage has a final component that needs to be completed before a student should move on to the next stage. Is there an IF/THEN setting that can make different topics visible to different students based on their progress?
Without knowing much about your project, I would suggest using the “lesson” module. It allows the teacher to set up specific tasks and does limit the students ability to progress until they have completed a prior element of the lesson correctly. It does take some time to set up and work out the kinks but it is a great tool.
I have avoided using the lesson module so far because it seemed very time consuming, but this project is going to be time consuming to set up no matter what.
A question about the lesson module:
-At the end of each topic, I have set up requirements such as "Take this quiz (and pass)", submit some online text to prove you completed the task, upload your script. Within a lesson, can these be prerequisites to moving on?
