I am interested to know if there is a list of high schools that offer all course work online and blended?  If you know of some, post them here.

Am attending my first MACUL conference this week. Am interested in ways to use online and blended learning with my advanced middle school math students as a supplement to classroom instruction.  Any recommendations on presentations to attend?

For those of you involved in teaching in an online environmnet...Do you think today's children could complete their entire high school education online and be educated enough to get into the top universities and compete in the global markets?

Checking out ALEKS for some of my accelerated math students.  Stopped at their exhibit at Macul - looks interesting.

Christy,

Some things that I do in the classroom are online so I get the perspective from both sides I think.  Now I'm not sure if our online learning is complete like others but I can still get a pretty good idea of what is happening with my students.

To answer your question, I think it depends on the student.  Some students have real trouble listening to a teacher or other students so an online environment may work better for them because they have the ability to teach themselves.  I also think other students are needy for support so an online environment will not work for them.  So I think student could potentially learn in an online environment and still compete globally.

Christy's question is a good one; statistics on college acceptance rates from online high school students seems to be non-existent, at least with my cursory search. I did find an excellent FAQ sheet from NACOL with lots of data, but not what we are looking for. I have written Susan Patrick, president/CEO of NACOL, to see if she is aware of any studies done in this area. I will post what I find out from her!

I teach Spanish online for Westwood Cyber High and am looking for websites and ideas to help teach Spanish through project-based learning.  I have found it very difficult to never actually work with my students in person.  It seems to be a lot to communicate online.  If anyone has any ideas, please send them my way.
