I found this great link...http://ht.ly/4gnUa I'm a Mac user anyways, but this discusses how iPads can increase reading comprehension. I'm flying this Saturday with my 8 year nephew and 5 year old niece. We will be bringing along my nephew's iPad for the plane ride for some teachable moments! :)

Dawn, what a great idea. Thanks for sharing. Another app your niece might enjoy is Storybuilder -- and it's free!

Jennifer-- here's a start from a blog about integrating technology into the Spanish classroom. It could be adapted for online. Visit http://ochoamores.typepad.com/morespanish/2009/03/project-based-lea... and see what you think.

Found this interesting article about how Denmark is going to be using free apps to teach math across the country.

I am a special ed teacher (EI) and was curious to see if anyone had experience using on-line/blended teaching with spec ed students? Was it productive? spark interest?

Christy - re college acceptance info for online HS graduates, as promised in an earlier posting, I contacted Susan Patrick at iNACOL. Here is her reply, received this afternoon:

Thanks for writing.  Unfortunately, you are correct - there isn't any data.

The federal government isn't collecting this data - and there is no data source except to ask institution by institution and no one is.

Here is one response to Jeff Trudell's request for a list of high schools that offer blended or totally virtually courses. This is from Susan Patrick, CEO of iNACOL.

No, there's not a list of U.S. Schools by state either offering virtual and hybrid courses. We know from our members by state - who our members are in each state and many of those are the providers . . .
