I suppose this could be a discussion, but this seems to be a better bet since I don't see any discussion activity. I just joined this ning and this group. I am conducting two brief 1-hour trainings for two groups of teachers April 6 (yes, tomorrow) and April 8. I'm new to this "ning thing" and so hadn't thought of this method of connecting before. I would like to have a Skype connection around 4:15 pm EST on April 6 and April 8, 2010, both as an example and as a way for the teachers to see it used in a practical way, finding out first-hand how others are using Skype in the classroom. Anyone available and willing? This will be my first attempt to use it in a group setting, too. Thanks to any who would be willing to volunteer!

I teach an 8th grade ELA class and we read the novels The Pearl, The Barcode Tattoo, Code Orange and The Outsiders. Would love to do some sort of Skype booktalk with other classes studying this book. We will be reading The Pearl very soon, but I am flexible with the other novels. Please let me know. A disclaimer, I am new (but enthusiastic) to all of this:)

I teach english to 6th graders (age 10- 11) in a german school and I’m looking for skype sessions (maybe twice a month) with native English speaking pupils. I think that could be fun and the pupils could learn a lot from each other (hopefully my pupils improve their English J ). Topics like certain habits and how the pupils spend their freetime would be possible and I’m open for other topics.
If you’re interested, please send a message!
Thanks and greetings from Germany! J

Hi everyone, I'm so happy to see a Skype in the classroom group. I wanted to let you know that Skype are getting ready to launch a new project centred around education called, Skype in the classroom. If you'd like to pre-register for the beta, please follow the URL. You'll also be able to get more info here, but in a nutshell, it's a free online directory that will allow teachers to connect to one another to enrich their classes using Skype. http://blogs.skype.com/classroom-pre-register/
