I currently use Paxton Patterson labs in grades 6 - 8. We need to send a lot to update, so I considering the possibility of a more direct instruction/project based curriculum. Can anyone share what is happening in other 6 - 8th grades?

MR ROSENE! You were my 8th grade science teacher. Pam Searle here. Do you remember me? I am the technology coordinator in Walled Lake and love it! How is everything at MPS?

Walled Lake no longer has computer classes at the middle school. (This is the first year of not offering "Info Tech"). Instead, the tech skills are taught within the content areas. We have LOTS of laptops to make this possible. I agree that project-based is the way to go.

My presentation at MACUL 08 was Using Technology with Classroom Instruction that Works. I posted several handouts on my wiki: http://pamshoemaker.wikispaces.com/MACUL2008.

Welcome to MaculSpace Dale! We reside in the same town but our paths rarely cross. I'm sure you'll find some great resources (software, ideas, and people) here. I see Pam found you. She and I are good friends. Technology made our friendship possible. What a small world!

Hi Dale,

With your work in Education Technology, I recommend you take a look at Wiziq's virtual classroom and authorstream's power point presentation platform. Both are web based platforms, have a bunch of features and free basic service. Here’s a public class recording you might find of interest.
