My summer vacation as my professional development

Okay, confession #2. I am a workaholic. Although I must confess (#3) that I've been a bit lazy since school ended on June 13th. I am teaching summer school and so far this is working fine. I get to enrich the students
with reading/writing/technology skills and, at the same time, organize and clean my library. A win-win situation.

Summer also gives me some time to evaluate/assess the 2007-08 school year. I tried some different activities, kept some of the good ones, while keeping the GLCEs and o… Continue

If it was a snake, it would have bit me

Okay, I confess. I think too hard sometimes. I try to be "creative" and think "outside of the box" to engage students. So I read emails from folks that I think are creative and think outside of the box to look for that magical way. Then, I stop, think and voila! The "way" is right in front of me all the time! I'm so busy looking every place for this "magical technique" when all I have to do is to use what I have in a different way! Duh!!!!

Quarterly Resolution Checkup

Well, for those of you who have checked to see if I added anything new, you'll see that I haven't. So I'm writing this blog as a "quarterly checkup on my resolution." I'm still committed to writing. I just need to write more than once every three months.

So I'm going to post a question for my blog. I've just learned about diigo and connexion. Diigo, I think, is another social bookmarking tool. Connexion is a tool to create and publish information. Has anyone worked used these tools? If yes,
wha… Continue

Happy New Year!

This year, I finally decided to get serious about writing, and in
particular, blogging. I have access to blogs, so why not use
them?

I will write comments regularly and ask for advice. I look forward to reading your comments!

Hi Karen,

With your work in Technology and Library Media, I recommend you take a look at Wiziq's virtual classroom and authorstream's power point presentation platform. Both are web based platforms, have a bunch of features and free basic service. Here’s a public class recording conducted by Nellie Deutsch on Technology Integration.

Hi Karen,
I am a Tech teacher at Durfee. I enjoyed your article in the last MACUL about Tapped In. Hopefully we can collaborate on some things to get technology moving in our district.
