As the Year Begins a few Thoughts and Goals...
As Computer Teacher and a Digital Explorer I will try to:

1. Spend less time pulling 10/100 line and fixing CAT5 plugs and more time pulling together ideas for instruction.

2. Less time doing my favorite projects and more time creating projects the students need.

3.Less time scheduling the classes so the teachers have break that are convenient for them and more time incorporating a few minutes of break the students need.

I have long been unhappy with the terms Digital Natives and Digital Immigrants. It felt so unfair to be called an Immigrant, since I was over 40 and lived in a world without computers before college. Instead I prefer to call myself a DIGITAL EXPLORER!

For educators this is the final 4. Those last weeks of school before the children have vacation. If we are lucky we may get a few weeks off as well. More than likely, most of us will be “in school” ourselves, attending webinars, and classes. The ending of one school year does afford one an opportunity to look back, reflect, take stock, and do a little self reflection.

Not only a good "Oldy song", but a true ode to the possibilities of social networking. I am fortunate that the Shared Time Computer teachers I work with meet once a month. We share ideas, problems, and solutions. I dare say I learn as much from them as most Professional Development Workshops I attend.

It is the conference -the only conference I try to attend. Where else can you go where you can get information on Music, Art, Social Studies, Science, Math, Writing, Digital Storytelling, Animation, Programing, Social Networking, and Safety. When I am encouraging other tgeachers to ttend the most important thing I stress is educational content and student interest.
