End of Year

It's that bittersweet time of year for me as a teacher.

Yippee!!! Summer is almost here. I'll have time to do all of those things I've been wanting to get to. I'll get to see more of my friends and family. I can spend tons of time outdoors!

Boohoo....I have to say goodbye to my students. I have to let them move on to middle school so I won't even get to see them around the building or out at recess. I hate it!

And it's coming no matter which way I think about it.

Hi Laura! I miss all of the MACUL people too. But I must say, it has given me more time to do things I had been letting go. This school year is crazy! I got new equipment in my lab. Instead of desktops, I now have work stations or thin clients for my students. In theory it is a great idea. It was about 1/3 the price of the desktops. Sadly, the implementation has gone very badly. This morning my students are reading their books instead of doing their work for my class, because the system freezes. Last hour I had the same problem. Our tech person is gone today so no one can reboot the server for me. It looks like another day that my students will get nothing accomplished. For a type A person like me, this is misery! I have hopes, though, that everything will eventually work as it should and we can be productive again.

I hope that your school year is going well. I'm sure I will see you at the MACUL Conference. Take care!

Laura, It was a pleasure meeting you in the lunch line at today's conference. I am certainly enjoying the four seasons and looking forward to the next one. :-)

Laura, I've just joined the MACUL Space. My reason for doing so was to attempt to find teachers in Michigan who are using GIS systems in their teaching. I'm doing a two hour hands-on workshop at the upcoming MACUL conference and would like to invite some teachers who are using GIS systems to join me. Can you direct me to how I might us MACUL Space for that task? Any help would be appreciated!!! Howard

Laura - I never heard of Twitter or Jaiku until I joined MACUL space. Am I just out of it?
Any idea who is presenting in Forest Hills next week? We are so interested in good speakers/activities around differentiation.

Let's Talk Technology is a wonderful place to learn about topics like Web 2.0 in a face to face way on a Saturday morning! But Sig-Tele and MACUL is a great way to connect in an even greater way. Keep up the good work!
