Teaching with Tech Plans for 2009

This blog entry is cross posted on my blog, www.2teach.edublogs.org

I am not going to make New Year's Resolutions as I know what I will do with those. (I can usually keep one for about a week.) What I will do is set some teaching with technology goals for 2009. Here they are in no particular order;

1. Google Earth -Utilize and Integrate Google Earth into my lessons plans. I have attended two conference sessions, played with it and expl… Continue

Grand Rapids Computer Repair - GPC Computers

I need to share my knowledge of a wonderful computer repair shop in GR. My laptop cord socket has been touchy for months. I was told by other computer experts that there was nothing that anyone could do. It would be costly and I'd need a new motherboard. I figured I would keep it working as long as I could (I needed to adjust/push/bend the cord until the charging light would come on. I had ruined two cords already.) A neighbor mentioned GPC Computers. I called, brought the laptop in, and for $11… Continue

Hi Patti,
Have you tried out Shidonni yet? I think you will really like ot for your little ones. The site is free. You get to design an animal, and background and it comes to life. You can draw food and the animals eat it, there is a ball you can add and they play with it. I was thinking how cool it whoe look on your Smartboard. We did one story together on the projector and I left it running. Then the kids wrote stories about what the animal did.

Patti,
Thanks for asking the question about the MACUL conference issue. The intent of the MI-Champions program is to engage teachers who have not had a great deal of exposure to technology training and professional development opportunities such as the MACUL conference. Our research has found that all too often those selected for training are educators who possess a high level of expertise and not those that might need it the most.
Let me know if I can answer any other questions you might have!

Wow, coming all the way down from GR for Tech Camp, that's awesome. And here I thought i was cool for getting people from Mattawan to come down :)

Can't wait to meet you as well. The Google Earth session should be pretty fun, and if all goes as planned with Read Please, we'll be able to take a look at a lot of early literacy and fluency websites. Mostly for the K-2 crowd, but I toss in some websites and programs for older grades towards the end. If you're a fan of Starfall Reading and Tumblebooks, it's basically more of those sites.
