"We don't have one that I'm aware of in Mattawan, but I know that some Berrien County schools use Schoolwires e-Alerts to manage some district-wide communication to parents. Of course, if you don't use Schoolwires for your CMS, then…"

I Voted!

I voted last night in the MACUL Board Elections, and I have to say that the more time I spend as a part of the association, the more difficult it becomes to decide who to vote for.

When I first joined MACUL 5 years ago I only knew a small handful of people in the organization, and of those, only one person on the board was someone familiar to me. So when I looked at the ballot, I was presented with a number of unfamiliar names, a bio of them, and… Continue

Am I Doing Enough?

How often do you ask yourself "am I doing enough?" I've been blessed to have a number of fantastic role models in my life; both educators and leaders that have shown me that a truly dedicated teacher will always be asking themselves whether or not their instruction is getting better or worse?

No middle of the road here. Just as the sliding sands of a Lake Michigan dune will give way beneath your feet as you attempt an assent, so too will efficacy in the classroom slip from your grasp… Continue

K12 Online Conference....please don't let us down

With all of the buzz and hullabaloo going on about the K12 Online Conference this year, I thought I'd better get my act together and "sit in" on a few sessions. While I still think there's a certain physical and/or personal intimacy missing from the conference, I was hoping that an wiki-based presentation would be a great way to see how interactivity for the… Continue

Ben, Happy to hear that you think it is good enough to present again. If asked I will be happy to. I am also working on a new session titled Free is Good part Deux - Taking it to the Web. Nice job with the MACUL Space. Good idea. I would like to invite all the past presidents to have a space. If you can get your hands on their email addresses I would be happy to assist.

Thanks for setting up MACUL Space. It's a terrific site and I'm enjoying reuniting with some "old" friends!

Ben - Nice to be a part of this. It's my first social networking experience. Kevin Galbraith and I have a running discussion about whether or not I need to do this. Maybe it's my age but I can't quite get myself to latch on to this format the way others seem to. I really am looking forward to connecting with others.

Hi Ben,
I guess I needed that reminder that I have a dream job. I wear many hats, develop technology projects, train staff K-12, introduce new tech tools. teach afterschool classes, work on every curriculum committee... It doesn't feel like the end of the year, too much to do. You're clos, we should get together and see if we can get some cross district sharing going.

I felt something like a trespasser, being from VA and all, but I wanted to see what you were up to. It's a really good idea. I've got a good friend on the board of VSTE (the Va version of MACUL) and I might push this idea to her. Although, we got a VSTE forum that last year and it was a big deal so we're kind of easing into things :)

It looks really good. I am impressed. I like this style of site because it seems to relax people and lead to more instantaneous response/conversations. It also seems to bring in a lot of people who don't participate otherwise. It's very nice for getting groups like this together.
