I Voted!

I voted last night in the MACUL Board Elections, and I have to say that the more time I spend as a part of the association, the more difficult it becomes to decide who to vote for.

When I first joined MACUL 5 years ago I only knew a small handful of people in the organization, and of those, only one person on the board was someone familiar to me. So when I looked at the ballot, I was presented with a number of unfamiliar names, a bio of them, and that was a… Continue

Am I Doing Enough?

How often do you ask yourself "am I doing enough?" I've been blessed to have a number of fantastic role models in my life; both educators and leaders that have shown me that a truly dedicated teacher will always be asking themselves whether or not their instruction is getting better or worse?

No middle of the road here. Just as the sliding sands of a Lake Michigan dune will give way beneath your feet as you attempt an assent, so too will efficacy in the classroom slip from your grasp th… Continue

K12 Online Conference....please don't let us down

With all of the buzz and hullabaloo going on about the K12 Online Conference this year, I thought I'd better get my act together and "sit in" on a few sessions. While I still think there's a certain physical and/or personal intimacy missing from the conference, I was hoping that an wiki-based presentation would be a great way to see how interactivity for the conference… Continue

Hi, Ben

My name is Lin, a phd student in Instructional Technology at Wayne State. My team members and I are thinking open a company to deliver course contents through Ning. We do need your help with the questions in the following because we know that you had many experiences with Ning, such as Macul. Thank you in advance.
My questions are:
1) if we use Ning site as a platform to deliver our contents just as you did for MACUL, do we need to pay any fee?

2)can we get rid off the commercials from the page?

3)Do you think Ning is safe enough and can provide communications only among proved members?

4)Does NIng can upload Flash games?

Thank you so much for your help and assistance and very look forward to hearing from you

Hi Ben,

I have a few items to ask and bring to your attention. I've recently been part of a team of individuals that created the first ever state-wide AECT (Association for Educational Communications and Technology) chapter for Michigan. Two questions:

1. Can I post information about it on here?
2. Where can I obtain information about having a table set up at the MACUL conference?
3. What is the deadline for submitting conference proposals?

Ben,
Sorry about not being around last Friday. I was called to duty. How about sometime next week. I'll be out of town but working on my computer so I'm available most any time.

Hey, Ben. My session was Thursday morning. I did have some totally stellar person help me get my stuff set-up, though! I got to my room and my projector didn't have any cords but someone, I wish I knew who, seamlessly ran around like crazy trying to track down a VGA cable and power cord. Got me up and running right as my session was beginning!

Thanks for the energetic welcome, Ben. I wouldn't exactly describe me as a Ning Veteran--more like rookie.

Ben,
I'd like to talk to you about Ning. We are looking at a social networking site to use for extended Web 2.0 experiences for LearnPort users and instructors. If you are available for a discussion please let me know a convenient time and place. Thanks

Jim, you are so right, look outward not inward. Just think if this passes, instead of getting this great fresh blood on the Board you will have the same people running again. Makes no sense.
