
Miguel Guhlin has devised a wonderful way for blogging and Twittering educators to create a Passion Quilt, a digital representaton -- a photo, actually -- that "captures what we most passionately want children to learn in school . . . from our particular perspective."
Here is the photo I selected, taken the day of the New York Giant's Victory parade last week in Lower Manhattan. Look at the excitement in this photo, from the ticker tape snow showering down on the crowd, to the people in the crowd decked out in their Giants regalia, to the stockbrokers in the lower left corner who left the NYSE to use their cell phones to capture the moment, and of course, to the players themselves, cheering with arms raised high.
On reflection, maybe it's not that children can learn excitement, but maybe we can teach with excitement, so that learning can become exciting for them. What do you think?
