Today, the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee voted to include the Achievement Through Technology and Innovation (ATTAIN) Act in the reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education (ESEA) Act. Subsequently, the HELP Committee passed the entire ESEA bill.
Passage of ATTAIN is a significant victory for ISTE members and the entire education technology community. We have been working on this legislation for several years and its inclusion in the Senate bill is a testament to the dedication and perseverance of our community.
Specifically, Senator Bingaman’s (D-NM) leadership along with Senators Murray (D-WA) and Blumenthal (D-CT) in offering ATTAIN as an amendment and the bi-partisan support it received with Senator Murkowski (R-AK) speaking in support of ATTAIN and education technology during the Committee debate is a reflection of the importance policymakers place on digital learning for all students.
